Interested in Hosting a LANG Event?

Happy BirthdayLANG events form the core of the club's social calendar. Most LANG events are graciously held in the private homes of members, all are hosted by members who volunteer to host events.

To propose a LANG Event

LANG members can submit a proposal for a LANG event by filling out an online event listing proposal by the tenth of the month prior to the date of the event, in order to be listed in the Nudesletter. The events committee will review the proposal then contact you to confirm the listing and any additional information which may be needed.

Selecting a Date:

The first step in planning a party is to select an available date and time. The dates and times of parties already scheduled are listed on the upcoming events calendar, typically for the next two to three months. While there can be more than one event on a given date, larger parties tend to draw a large attendance and may take away from an event another host is planning. Our monthly newsletter includes LANG events for the next month.

Sometimes a special event makes a great occasion for hosting a party. While some of our long time members schedule parties on major holidays at their homes each year, a number of other holidays or historic events could offer a great reason for a celebration. If you have a partner, a birthday might be a great occasion to invite your LANG friends too.

You also need to let us know how many members and guests you can comfortably accommodate. This number does not include hosts, co-hosts or steering committee members.

Food:

If your event is a social party, the second step is to decide what type of food you want to serve. Don't want to cook it all yourself? Not to worry, almost all of LANG's parties involve members contributing the type of food you specify, to serve approximately four to five people. You can, however, provide food if you wish. Standard food options include:

  • Members and guests to bring snacks
  • Members and guests to bring potluck brunch dishes
  • Members and guests to bring hors d'oeuvres or appetizers
  • Members and guests to bring barbecue side dishes
  • Members and guests to bring pot luck dinner dishes
  • Host providing chips, dip, etc.
  • Host providing Hors d'oeuvres
  • Host providing all food
  • Food suggestions for each of these categories are provided. Members and guests are also expected to bring their own beverages.

In an effort to avoid wasting food left over after the event, it is recommended you have the co-hosts ask members and their guests to take any left over food they brought home with them at the end of the event.

Co-hosts:

LANG will assign co-hosts to help check members and guests in, direct guests to the changing room, set out the food and help clean up at the end of the event. Typically LANG assigns approximately 1 co-host for every 8 to 10 guests. The co-hosts are asked to arrive approximately 30 minutes before the scheduled start time for your event.

Options:

There are several standard options to indicate to members if they are available:

  • Swimming Pool
  • Jacuzzi or Hot Tub
  • Smoking Area
  • Barbecue - members and guests can bring their own meat to cook
  • Discrete Area
  • After Hours
  • Other - is there a planned activity or theme for members and guests to participate in?
  • Pets - Do you have any pets that people with pet allergies should be aware of?

What you need to provide:

The host is responsible for providing certain necessities. LANG will reimburse hosts two dollars per guest to offset the cost of providing paper plates, plastic cups, plastic forks & spoons, napkins, ice, decorations, cleaning supplies, cold storage for beverages, etc. as required by the nature of the event. Options offered may require additional items such as ash trays for a smoking area, fuel for a barbecue, or safe activity supplies for a discrete area. You also need to ensure that there are adequate hand soap, towels and toilet paper in the bathroom. You should also ensure that there are adequate chairs and places to sit.

If you heat a pool or jacuzzi for the event LANG will additionally provide a partial reimbursement for the cost if requested.

If you wish to provide special decorations, entertainment or food which exceeds the standard reimbursement, it is your responsibility to cover the cost of these expenses unless you present a specific request for an additional amount to cover these items when submitting your event proposal. Generally LANG will increase the member and guest fees to cover these additional expenses.

Host Guests:

LANG Policies and Procedures specify that a host may invite up to five guests to any event at their residence, unless the event has been designated as a "no guest" event. These guests must be pre-registered and a guest fee will be charged for each guest. An exception is made for guests who reside as the host's residence. All guests need to be made aware of and follow LANG's event guidelines.
